Baby teething Will Often Cause Discomfort To Both Baby And Mother
Baby teething is a process in which both the baby as well as the parents is in considerable discomfort, and such a process can continue till the baby reaches the age of three by which time all of its primary teeth will have come out. However, in certain instances a baby may fail to show teeth even at the age of one year which is when a parent has to consult a doctor as also dentist.
No Set Pattern
By the time a baby has reached the age of two and a half years, his molars, cuspids should have appeared as also the second set of molars. However, baby teeth do not follow any set pattern as to which teeth appear when, though by such an age there should be at least twenty teeth that have grown.
First signs of baby teething could be noticed when the gums begin to bulge and at this time the parents may be able to notice outline of teeth as they emerge from the gums. Other signs of baby teething includes crying during the night and also sleepwalking, excessive fussiness, behavior that can best is described as ‘clingy’, excessive drooling, chewing on fingers and objects, swelling and reddened and also inflamed gums, poor appetite as also sleep that is not constant, but interrupted.
Other things noticed in babies when they are teething include the baby feeling a lot of pain, though it may not result in fever, or lower immunity against infections. The cause of this pain during baby teething can be attributed to the fact that teeth will be pushing through the gums which results in a lot of pain in some, though not all babies. And, the arrival of the first tooth will certainly be the most painful.
Parents will also notice that during baby teething that the baby puts his hands to the mouth in order to get relief as this helps in applying pressure on the gums which results in less pain. There are also other baby teething symptoms that a mother should look for though most of them may be pretty innocuous and hardly does any harm to the infant. For instance, there may be drool rash on the lips, chest and also chin that can easily be washed using warm water and cloth and even lanolin ointment if prescribed by a doctor. Babies may also suffer slight diarrhea and also cough when the saliva drips down their throat.
The best way to alleviate the baby teething problems is to use proper dental practices from the very beginning so that the baby’s dental hygiene remains good in the times to come.
